Frequently Asked Questions
Where will the festival be held?
Our festival is at The Old Waterworks, an artists studios in Southend-on-sea. Typically private, we open our studios up for our festival, welcoming you into our world. We’re about 1hr from London, with Southend Central, Southend Victoria and Prittlewell stations close by, plus lots of parking in Southend town or seafront. We’re about a 10-minute walk from the centre of town, accessible on foot, by bike and bus routes. We encourage public transport where possible as there is no direct site parking.
For full details, see The Old Waterworks website.
Are you dog friendly?
You’re welcome to bring any well behaved furry members of the family. You’ll be responsible for your dog at all times and we encourage an awareness around guide and assistance dogs who may be working at the event.
Are you child-friendly?
Yes! Please note some live music content and zine content in both the library and zine stalls may be considered explicit, contain nudity or be political in nature and we leave levels of engagement down to parents and carers. Most of our workshops are also child-friendly, but no children can be left unattended.
What ways are you accessible?
The main building will be accessible via ramp, with the outside elements are all ground level. Our studio bathroom is not wheelchair access compliant so we’ll be bringing in disabled portable toilets.
Our Saturday will have a ‘quiet hour’ from 1-2pm, before general entry for anyone needing low lighting, no music and less crowds.
Our Sunday is designed to be more neurodivergent friendly, with a playlist of music rather than live bands, more relaxed activities such as yoga and less intense programming and more space to stretch out, with less zine tables.
Talks programming will be BSL interpreted.
We have a dedicated welfare space hosted by The Welfare Lot, with snacks, stim toys and beanbags. Find out about their offering here.
Will we need a ticket for entry?
Tickets are free, but we have limited capacity. Please RSVP to our event, which will subscribe you to our mailing list. All event details will be shared directly with those who have RSVP’d, including ticket allocation. We recommend you arrive early. Booking for specific workshops will be released closer to the event.
